7 automations every solopreneur should set up first.

By Stromation · updated July 2026 · practical guide

You cannot automate everything at once, and you should not try. These are the seven systems that give a one-person business the most time back for the least effort, roughly in the order worth building them. Each is a trigger plus a few steps, running on n8n.

1. Contact form to inbox plus auto-reply

Every website form should do two things instantly: alert you, and reply to the person so they know they were heard. Silence loses leads. This is the simplest one to build, so start here, we give it away free. Gives back: the leads you would otherwise forget.

2. Missed call, instant text-back

Most people who reach voicemail never leave one, they call the next business. An automation that texts every missed caller within seconds, then handles their reply, turns lost calls into booked work. Gives back: every missed lead. Full guide →

3. New lead, automatic follow-up

Speed wins deals. The moment a lead arrives from any source, a good workflow enriches who they are and sends a personal-feeling first message in minutes, then reminds you if they go quiet. Gives back: 5 to 8 hours a week and a lot of deals that used to slip.

4. One idea to a week of content

Feeding social by hand is a second job. Drop in one idea and let AI expand it into a week of platform-ready posts, queued to publish. You approve, it ships. Gives back: 6 to 10 hours a week.

5. Client onboarding on autopilot

When someone pays or signs, the welcome should run itself, the email, the intake form, the folder, the kickoff call. Every client gets a sharp first experience without you lifting a finger. Gives back: 3 to 5 hours per client.

6. Your morning business digest

Instead of opening five dashboards, get one email each morning with the numbers that matter, yesterday's revenue, new customers, what needs you today. Gives back: the dashboard-checking habit.

7. Invoice and payment recovery

Invoices go out on their own, unpaid ones get chased on schedule, and failed charges recover themselves. Money stops slipping through the cracks. Gives back: hours, plus revenue you were quietly losing.

Rule of thumb: build the one that plugs your biggest leak first. For most solo businesses that is lead capture and follow-up (1 to 3). Ship one, feel the difference, then add the next.

All five of the deeper systems here are in the free Starter Pack as blueprints, and in the Pro Pack as ready-to-import files if you would rather skip the building.

The Pro Pack is six of these as ready-to-import n8n files — import, plug in your accounts, run. $47, yours to own.
